Amazon recorded a 70% increase in Sales this Holiday Season

The holiday season is the best time to celebrate for all. However, it seems like Amazon has ‘bigger’ reason to celebrate.  Amazon- the world’s largest e-retail firm has enjoyed a high online sales push.

The company has not revealed the real numbers, but they shared that nearly 70% upsurge in sales has been recorded this holiday time – thanks to the growing trend of online shopping.

Apart from the normal cosmetics and gifts, millions of tech gadgets were ordered this season among which Echo Dot was the most purchased gadget. According to the company, they won’t be able to ship Echo Dot until early January because of this huge order delivered the holiday season. Also, Amazon Fire TV Sticks have also been purchased twice compared to the sales last year’s holiday season.

The peak day of customer fulfillment was 19th December 2017.

The company also touted that their app shoppers have been doubled during this holiday period. In addition to this, more than four million people have become Prime members or have started a free trial.

The Amazon team has not disclosed the exact count, but they have vaguely said that there’s about ‘tens of millions of members available globally’.

Not just this, Amazon’s Alexa application that lets the users connect Amazon’s voice-enabled devices with Wi-Fi has reached on the top of Apple App Store over the holiday weekend. It has also become the top downloaded mobile app in the Google Play store with 10 million installs.

Amazon has planned to set another record in the coming year- grabbing more than 50% of digital sales. The retail giant has also decided to open more physical stores across the USA to make the pickups and returns easier and collaborate with various other big brands. This, in turn, will force the competitors like Walmart, Kohl’s, Target and BestBuy to come up with better marketing strategies and shopping experience to remain in the market.
